Insulating where soffit meets addition
I have an L-shaped ranch with an addition at the insde part of the "L". The addition was built about 6 feet away from the house so where the gutter line ended a (semi) flat roof extends toa vertical wall where the roof in the family room is higher. Basically I have a flat roof space about 12" high where the soffit and roof line meet the family room. I can add about an R-19 layer of fiberglass, but should I add foam board or sprayed-in insulation under the original roof sheeting to avoid heat transfer and ice-damming on the flat roof.
I can provide a picture or drawing if this would help.
Thanks,
Gary in Ohio
